Greetings!
On January 4, 2010, the Executive Committee met. The main agenda item was the request from Elder Kennedy Luckett to be released from his responsibilities as Executive Secretary of the conference.
Those of you who know Elder Luckett know of his deep and extraordinary passion for pastoral ministry. It is what has made him a good pastor for approximately 20 years. It is what drew me to ask him to serve as Executive Secretary of our conference. However, it is that same passion that drew Elder Luckett back to pastoral ministries.
The Executive Committee affirmed Elder Luckett’s passion and gift for ministry, voted to accept his resignation as Conference Executive Secretary, and allowed him to return to Louisville Magazine Street. I believe that this was the right thing to do and that the committee did a good thing for a good pastor.
At that same meeting, I recommended to the Executive Committee that Elder Auldwin T. Humphrey serve as the Executive Secretary of South Central Conference. Said recommendation was unanimously approved.
I have had the privilege of knowing Elder Humphrey for many years. He is a veteran leader in our church, with departmental/administrative experience on the conference, union, division, university, and academy levels. He will be a blessing to our conference as the final piece of our administrative team. He begins this new area of ministry immediately.
Blessings on you and yours,
President Dana C. Edmond
