A team of Haitian-American students led by Dr. Anthony Paul and Marlo Hodnett, M.D. will be some of the first responders from the US to the earthquake in Haiti.
These students are from the National Association for the Prevention of Starvation (NAPS) at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. Also accompanying them is a NAPS staff member who is fluent in Spanish who will assist in the team’s trek into Haiti through the Dominican Republic.
NAPS (a member of ASI--Adventists in Services & Industries) doesn't just send relief, they hand deliver it with love and care.
The team will be headed to the Dominican Republic on FRIDAY morning with a 5:30 a.m. departure from Huntsville (flights into Haiti are limited at this point). They are accepting donations and Medical supplies.
Please pray for the situation in Haiti. NAPS is mobilizing its resources--human and medical--to move into the Dominican Republic and then into Haiti, as there are no direct flights into the country at this point.
The team of six will include our president, Dr. Anthony Paul, Dr. Marlo Hodnett, and 4 other students and staff, 3 of which are Haitian-Americans with family members in danger.
They will be braced for the 2nd wave of danger--disease--as they provide medical relief to many of the victims. They will be also be providing cholera prevention training to the youth of the country, as was done in Christmas 2008 in Zimbabwe.
Currently, the team is planning to be there for 10 days. Please continue to pray for our NAPS Haiti branch as well. If you can assist with Medical Supplies here is what is needed:
Iodine
Bandages
Sutures
Scalpels
Antibiotics
Anti-inflammatories
Doxycycline for Adults
Your monetary gifts are greatly needed.   Please click here (or Below: "Give Online link) to make a donation today.  Any amount that you can give will be put to use immediately. Their web site: http://napsoc.org/
